Rice baldo is a young Italian rice variety characterized by long and thick grains that give a full flavor.
Baldo rice is an Italian variety first cultivated in 1977. Thanks to the shape of its grains, it can absorb a large amount of seasoning, making every dish rich and flavorful. The long, large grain is very pleasant to the taste, making it an almost obligatory choice for timbales and baked dishes.

In 1937 the Veneria estate was purchased by the IFI, the Industrial Financial Institute, of which Senator Giovanni Agnelli was president; from that moment on, for the farmhouse, a period of great changes both in architecture and in the organization of work began and it became a model for the whole surrounding area and beyond. In 1949 the director Giuseppe De Santis chose it to shoot the film Riso Amaro with Silvana Mangano and Vittorio Gassman, a splendid cross-section of strong realism on the hard life of the mondine. In the 1950s, S.A.I., an Industrial Insurance Company, took over the property, while in December 2010 the estate was purchased by the current owners, the Bertoldo family. The “Cascina Veneria” property is located in Lignana, a small town near Vercelli in eastern Piedmont. Tenuta Veneria covers about 700 hectares of rice fields, in an area once called "Silva salsa", in the large fertile Po valley at the foot of Monte Rosa. Thanks to its unique charm and the particular microclimate, flora and fauna, this area is sometimes referred to as "Lands of water" (literally a "water area" due to its abundance of water) or "Checkered sea" .
